Bethel Police Suspect Body Of Richard Parks Has Been Found

Update: On November 27, Bethel Police confirmed the identity of the body to be Richard Parks. No foul play is suspected.

Richard Parks, age 55, went missing in mid-September. Now Bethel police suspect that his body has been found. 

On Saturday, trappers discovered a man’s body near the Oscarville Trail between Oscarville and Bethel. Bethel Police took custody of the remains, which will be sent to Anchorage for the State Medical Examiner to identify.

In the meantime, Bethel Police have contacted Parks’ family in Nunapitchuk with word of the discovery.  

Parks was last seen in Bethel on September 17, and was reported to be walking to a fish camp near Oscarville. Bethel Police, along with Bethel Search and Rescue, searched the camps looking for Parks, but did not find a body until now.
