Bethel’s very own Landon Smith dominated the competition at the Alaska USA Wrestling (AUSAW) State Wrestling Tournament this weekend. Smith won all three tournaments on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, snagging one of the competition’s very few Triple Crowns.

Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta athletes were at the top of their game last weekend; the majority of Bethel’s competing wrestlers placed in the tournament. On Thursday, Paul Dyment placed first in Greco-Roman wrestling, second in Folkstyle wrestling, and second in Open Freestyle wresting. Those placements were all in the Novice division.

In the Intermediate division, Ethan Wheeler placed third in Greco-Roman wrestling and Claire Dyment placed third in Freestyle. Joseph Smith placed first in freestyle wrestling’s School Boy division and Maya Iverson broke a Bethel Wrestling Club record on Saturday, going to the mat 11 times in one day. She competed in the both the Girls and Boys divisions that day.
