Bob Sivick visited Bethel this week as a prospective city manager and left with no offer and no decisions made.

Sivick, a former city attorney, says he advised council to look at all their options before making a decision on who they would hire. The city is considering two other candidates at this time.  Though during Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Rick Robb made it clear that Sivick was the most promising.

“I have a great deal of government experience. I like to say, as a baseball fan, I’ve hit for the cycle for government. I’ve worked for municipal, state, county and federal government," Sivick said.

The mayor may be convinced but Sivick was not sure if the job was for him yet. He thinks the city needs a clearer vision of its future.

“What I’d like to go ahead and see is maybe some more long term planning as far as growth and vision for the city that people would want," Sivick said.

When asked why he was interested in the job, Sivick said he was at a time in his life where he wanted to try something different.

“If I were still married and had a house, and a kid in school, I would have never ever applied here," Sivick said.

Sivick said that if the city does make him an offer, he would not be able to start for a minimum of 45 days.
