Hear State Health Updates This Week At The Bethel Cultural Center

State health boards will be holding panels and presentations open to the public, May 16 through 19 in Bethel. Naloxone kits, pictured here, are being distributed statewide to reverse opioid overdoses. The Alaska Opioid Task Force will provide an update.

Tuesday through Thursday, May 18, the Alaska Mental Health Board and the Advisory Board on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will be holding panels and presentations open to the public.

Events begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a traditional welcome from ONC President Walter Jim and Bethel Mayor Rick Robb. Following that will be an update presentation on Medicaid reform titled "Behavioral Health Reform Updates" at 11 a.m.

 

A public comment period is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, and members of the public will have the option to call in. A community potluck will be held at the Cultural Center on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

 

All in all, presentations will be held on the behavioral health needs of YK Delta youth, criminal justice and behavioral health reform, the Trauma Informed Schools Initiative, and an update on the Alaska Opioid Task Force.
