Lots Of Business To Be Covered At Tuesday’s Bethel City Council Meeting

Tuesday’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting has a pretty long list of business to cover, but many of those items are on the consent agenda, which means that they’re up for a simple vote without a scheduled discussion. This could change for any particular item, however, should any Council member decide to pull it from the consent agenda for separate discussion.

Some of the bigger items on the agenda: the FY 2018 budget, which must be approved by June 15, is set to get a vote; a vote on Ordinance 17-27, which would close any loopholes to secure protections for renters who may be victims of domestic violence; the introduction of Ordinance 17-36, which proposes to increase “tax on [the] sales of alcoholic beverages from 12 percent to 15 percent, and dedicating three percent of the revenue to health, public safety, and social services.” Council will also be honoring former Council members Nikki Hoffman and Byron Maczynski, who will receive a special appreciation plaque for the time they served on the council.
