Marked Truck Trail Connects Tuluksak And Akiak

Three men marked the nearly 20 mile distance from Tuluksak to Akiak, led by Nelson Napoka of Tuluksak. He says that the ice is more than two feet thick along the route and is mostly glare ice that turns jagged just above Akiak. The crew finished the trail on Wednesday.

There are two marked open holes along the route. The one below Tuluksak is about 100 yards long. The other is about six miles downriver of Tuluksak, across from Maciivik Slough, and runs about 75 yards long.

The truck trail is staked with willows and white reflective tape. Open holes are marked with blue tape.
