After 10 days of searching, the body of Robert Nick has been found. Search and Rescue members from Napakiak and Bethel located Nick around 3:20 p.m. on on Tuesday near the Bethel runway. He was found in a restricted area behind Federal Aviation Administration fencing.
A call Nick had made to the Bethel Police Department the night he went missing provided the critical details for locating him. Searchers gained access to the call Tuesday morning and found Nick a few hours later.
Bethel Search and Rescue President Mike Riley said that Nick, age 25, looked like he had laid down and fallen asleep. His hat and gloves were gone and he was covered in a fine layer of snow.
Nick's body was released to the Bethel Police Department.
