Update: Senior Night for the Bethel Lady Warriors basketball team will occur at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The event was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Original story: Basketball season is in full swing across the Lower Kuskokwim School District. This weekend there’s also music, archery, and student honors to attend. Here to tell us about it are Student Correspondents Hunter Carter and Marc Adlaon from Bethel Regional High School.

Transcript:

Adlaon: In Bethel on Friday, February 2, the Bethel Archers will be holding their second tournament of the year in the Gladys Jung Gym. BRHS and GJE will also be competing virtually against Tri-County North School District from Lewisburg, Ohio. The tournament starts at 4 p.m. and will continue to 7 p.m., if needed. There will be concessions available for purchase, so no need to bring your own. Results will be given out on Monday after all scores are tallied. Come and watch some great shooting, and support the Bethel Archery Team.

Carter: It will also be Senior Night for the Bethel Lady Warriors Basketball Team. At 7:15 p.m. on Friday, six seniors will be recognized at the Warrior Dome, followed by their last home games against Barrow’s Lady Whalers. Come out and support your Warriors.

Adlaon: In Quinhagak on Saturday, February 3, the Quinhagak Advisory School Board will honor students who haven’t had any unexcused absences or tardies in the last month. These students will be invited to participate in an open gym. There will be different times for the students of different ages. The high school Quinhagak girls’ basketball team will be traveling to Kipnuk, while the Junior High will be traveling to Eek.

Carter: In Kasigluk there will be high school boys’ basketball games on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $5 each day, and if you come late they will only be $4. There will be concessions available: nachos, pretzels, popcorn, chips, and sodas. Depending on the weather, Kasigluk hopes to play against Kwethluk, Atmautluak, Nunapitchuk, and Akiak. Between each game, community elders will have opportunities to speak with the crowd.

Adlaon: In Kwethluk on Monday, February 5 at 2:30 p.m., there will be a potluck and concert with Grammy award winning cellist Zuill Bailey and pianist Piers Lane at Kwethluk High School. This will be a free show for all those who are able to make it out. This tour was made possible with funding by the Rasmuson Foundation through the Harper Arts Fund.

Carter: I’m Hunter.

Adlaon: And I’m Marc.

Carter: And that’s what it is from LKSD.
