One of the highest profile murder cases in Bethel history is headed to trial soon, but just how involved local residents will be is still unclear. The trial for the torture and murder of 19-year-old Benjamin Kaiser in Bethel last October has been moved to Fairbanks. The court has promised that people in Bethel can attend telephonically, but at the last hearing, not even the prosecuting attorney in Bethel was able to participate. “This is unacceptable,” said attorney June Stein.
