Two Quinhagak men are safe after being rescued by a trooper airplane on the Kuskokwim river between Eek and Bethel.

Last Thursday close to 1 a.m. troopers heard that two brothers, Herman Wassillie, age 27 of Quinhagak and Wilson Wassillie, age 28 were overdue on their trip to Bethel by 4 wheeler. They made contact with Wilson via cell phone, who said they had lost the trail. The men were prepared to stay warm and had built a fire.

A trooper pilot spotted the men at 9:30 in the morning. They were on a slough near the river. The pilot landed on the river and picked up the men. They were uninjured and declined medical treatment.
