Time has all but run out for the Alaska Redistricting Board to get a final plan in place by the June 1 deadline. The board voted unanimously to appeal the court’s decision rejecting the latest redistricting map. The board plans to ask the court to overturn the decision and approve the Amended Proclamation Plan as adopted on April 5, but that likely won’t happen by deadline.
In the meantime, the board is seeking a temporary solution–it’s original map–for the upcoming election cycle. Representative Bob Herron says this means changes to Y-K Delta districts.
