Second subsistence hearing scheduled in Glennallen

by Angela Denning-Barnes on April 25, 2013

Following Bethel’s subsistence hearing at the beginning of April, Senator Lisa Murkowski has scheduled a second one in Glennallen, May 2.The hearings are collecting testimony for the senate committee which oversees subsistence.

Senator Murkowski committed last fall at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention to facilitate congressional hearings on subsistence. She is the ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee which holds jurisdiction over the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) and the Alaska Native Land Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) which governs subsistence activities in Alaska.

Any Alaskan wishing to provide written comments for the upcoming subsistence hearing can submit them via the subsistence public meeting page on Murkowski’s website.
