Sleetmute man arrested for knife assault

A man was arrested in Sleetmute for allegedly slashing another person in the forehead with a knife. Alaska State Troopers say that 31-year-old Jesse Derendy was arguing with another person on Oct. 7 when he pulled out a knife and cut the person on the forehead which caused a lot of bleeding.

The victim was taken to the Sleetmute health clinic for treatment.

Derendy was arrested on assault charges and transported to the jail in Bethel.

Troopers say that alcohol was involved.
