Sno-go driver hits and kills Emmonak man

Steve Lukudak, age 19 of Emmonak, died after being hit by a snow machine at about 12:40 a.m. this morning (Jan. 17).

According to Alaska State Troopers who are investigating the incident, Lukudak was walking along the river when he was struck by the machine causing fatal injuries. The location of the accident was just in front of the Kwik Pak Fisheries Dock in the village.

The snow machine driver was another young man from Emmonak, 19-year-old Steven Levi. Troopers say he was under the influence of alcohol at the time. Levi was also injured and was transported to Bethel via Life Med for treatment.

Troopers are continuing investigate the incident.
