St. Mary’s fire victim identified

The person who died in a house fire last month in Saint Mary’s has been identified. Alaska State Troopers say it is 22-year-old Anthony Sipary, a resident of the village.

His body was found inside of a home on November 30 but law enforcement wouldn’t identify him until he was autopsied by the State Medical Examiner in Anchorage.

A state fire investigator went to the village to investigate the fire.

Troopers say no foul play is suspected and that Sipary’s death is from an accidental fire.

St. Mary’s is located on the Andreafsky River, a tributary of the Lower Yukon River. It has about 550 residents.
