The Alaska Legislature is making it easier for people to attend the Great Alaska Shootout, a college basketball tournament taking place in the state’s largest city November 20-24th.

Starting at noon Wednesday, those who have purchased general admission tickets to the games can apply for complimentary round-trip airfare to Anchorage.

The state-funded program is set to accommodate about 1,500 people from 18 communities across Alaska including Nome, Kotzebue and Bethel, the only YK Delta community on the list.

The tournament features a slew of both Men’s and Women’s college basketball games.

Teams scheduled to compete are Belmont, Northeastern, UC Riverside, Oral Roberts, Charlotte, Loyola Marymount,
Prairie View A&M, Utah State, Texas State and host school, The University of Alaska Anchorage.
