Alaska State Troopers and Bethel Police are investigating after a body was found in a Bethel park. A press release from the Bethel Police Department Sunday said, in the early morning hours, around 4 a.m., witnesses reported a dead body near Pinky’s Park Boardwalk. Police responded and found the remains of a female in nearby bushes.

State troopers have suspended the search for a missing Platinum man. 74-year-old Henry Williams has not been seen since Friday. Officials say he traveled by 4-wheeler to Goodnews Bay and left for the return trip to Platinum, but never arrived.

On Friday, a judge sentenced 24-year-old Colten Zaukar, of Sleetmute to spend what could be rest of his life behind bars for a violent 2012 rape. Bethel Superior Court Judge Charles Ray sentenced Zaukar to 61 years, with another 10 years suspended.
