The cause of death for a pet dog in the Mission Lake neighborhood of Bethel last month was blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy by a veterinarian released to KYUK Wednesday (10/15). Dr. Bob Sept with Bethel-based Bering Sea Animal Clinic did the autopsy on October 1st.

A 29-year-old Bethel man, James Whitman, was arrested Wednesday evening after he allegedly beat a dog to death with a flashlight.

The Bethel City Council passed a resolution to enforce their leash law at Tuesday’s meeting. Citizens urged the city to do more to keep dogs from getting hit by cars.
