Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of a 16-year-old male in the village of Emmonak.

In an online dispatch, troopers say they received a report about the death on Tuesday, February 15th. A preliminary investigation revealed he had died from an apparent suicide.

After four days of searching, Alaska State Troopers have found 57-year-old Tommy Tom of Aniak. Authorities were looking for Tom after a deceased person was found at his home over the weekend.

Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters says Tom was found dead Thursday around noon in the woods near a trail used by heavy machinery in the village.

Bethel Police are investigating the death of a woman they say suffered a fatal gunshot wound. 25-year-old Roseanne Pitka of Toksook Bay was found dead early Friday at a residence in Bethel’s Larson Subdivision. Police report that she died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. They received a call at about 4:50 a.m.

Police say the incident is suspicious and they are not ruling out anything, including homicide or a self-inflicted wound. At the time this story was filed they were still interviewing witnesses. Police believe alcohol was a factor.

A St. Marys man died Saturday in an ATV accident. Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters says 27-year-old Joe Bryan Joe was deceased at the scene. At about 5 a.m. Saturday morning, a village police office got word that an ATV had crashed about three miles outside town near the confluence of the confluence of the Andreafsky and Yukon Rivers.
