The Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation is working towards a 250 million dollar project that would build a new clinic connected to the hospital. It would be double the size of the current hospital, which itself would be renovated. YKHC President and CEO Dan Winkelman says the region needs more services for the long term.

The Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation received good news this week for the prospect of building a new clinic and renovating the hospital. Last year YKHC submitted a proposal to the Indian Health Service for their joint venture construction program to build a new outpatient clinic and renovate the hospital.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation started handing out pink slips Monday. Switchboard operator, Hilary Jung, says she went into work for her noon shift and was called into an office by managers.
