As the Kuskokwim breakup front moved below Aniak, a River Watch team from the State of Alaska and National Weather Service with broadcast and spotting help from Bethel Search and Rescue‘s Peter Atchak flew the river from Bethel to Chuathbaluk.

The Kuskokwim River breakup went smoothly this year with no major flooding. The official time for breakup in Bethel was 5pm Friday. River Watch Program officials are calling it a thermal breakup, or mush out.
