The Kuskokwim River continues to break up due to unseasonably warm temperatures, but there’s no flooding expected. Mark Leary with Bethel Search and Rescue flew the river Monday afternoon and reports that the ice has broken up as far down as 10 miles below Kalskag at what’s known as Coffee’s Bend and jammed there. He says as things freeze up, the ice chunks will make travel difficult.

Multimedia producers are in Alaska gathering audio for a project called ‘Winters Past’. Their first stop was in Bethel where they’re talking with elders about how they’ve seen the climate change in their lifetime.

About two-dozen Bethel residents gathered at the ONC Multipurpose Building, also known as the Old Bowling Alley, Friday evening to discuss how to get rid of illegal drug dealers and bootleggers.
