A 19-year-old Emmonak man is charged with 1st Degree Assault/Leaving the scene of an injury accident after he struck a woman with his ATV on the Yukon River near Emmonak, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The Kuskokwim River continues to break up due to unseasonably warm temperatures, but there’s no flooding expected. Mark Leary with Bethel Search and Rescue flew the river Monday afternoon and reports that the ice has broken up as far down as 10 miles below Kalskag at what’s known as Coffee’s Bend and jammed there. He says as things freeze up, the ice chunks will make travel difficult.
