Bethel Search and Rescue announced that middle and upriver Kuskowkim villages of Napaimute, Chuathbaluk, Aniak, Kalskag, and Lower Kalskag combined their efforts to plow and mark a safe ice road for cars and trucks from Tuluksak, to Lower Kalskag, to Aniak, then Chuathbaluk, they expect to mark the trail to Napaimute sometime this week.

A 57-year-old Lower Kalskag man has been arrested for two felony charges of first and third degree assault.

According to a trooper affidavit, Andrew Littlefish, Sr. repeatedly stabbed his 22-year-old son on Nov. 20.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Federal Subsistence Regional Advisory Council, or the YK Detla RAC, finished its two-day meeting at the Cultural Center in Bethel on Thursday.

The council considered eight proposals, which ranged from harvest limits to redefining unit boundaries.

A 3-year-old child was killed Saturday in Lower Kalskag when a skiff propped against a home fell on her, Alaska State Troopers say.

State Troopers are investigating the death of a Lower Kalskag woman. Early Saturday morning troopers received a report that 27-year-old Marcia White was found dead in her home in Lower Kalskag.

Megan Peters is a spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers. “Troopers from Aniak and a roving VPSO responded to the village on snow machine at about 5:30 that morning to begin the investigation. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation in Anchorage also travelled to the village to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding the death,” said Peters.

A Lower Kalskag man was arrested last week by Alaska state troopers, after he allegedly assaulted another man with a metal chair and threatened to kill him.

FishThe Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Working Group wants the state to end to all commercial openings for the remainder of the summer. The say despite unmet subsistence needs the state has allowed commercial salmon openings. Some upriver fishermen are fed up with the state, and want the Federal Subsistence Board to manage the river from here on out.
