Saturday Sessions, a volunteer show hosted by Ryan “Rybo” Shore, is a musical discovery in the form of a genre-blurring free-for-all. You can expect to hear something different every week from jam bands, classic/modern/southern/desert rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz, electronic, classic R&B, folk, pop, classic country, soul, and any fusion thereof.
Saturday Sessions is broadcast live every Saturday evening from 5-7 pm on KYUK 640 AM or streamed live from our website, kyuk.org.
Your host, Ryan Shore:
Rybo developed an appreciation for music as a youngster. He played the trombone and tuba in the school band and, in more recent years, has collaborated for numerous gigs playing hand-percussion for Dub Acoustic, Fat Rabbit, and The Skeeto Valdez Jam Session.
Rybo loves that music is a never-ending search for more. You can learn so much about your favorite artists by uncovering their musical influences and then searching deeper for the chain of influence that leads back. This journey eventually reveals an amazing musical web that stretches in so many different directions.
Some of Rybo’s favorite artists (which you will surely hear on Saturday Sessions) are: Phish, The Grateful Dead, The String Cheese Incident, Gov’t Mule, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bassnectar, Incubus, Sublime, The Black Keys, Janis Joplin, Doors, The Allman Brothers Band, and Little Feat.
In the winter you can find Rybo skiing or snowboarding (yes, it is possible to love both), playing broomball at Pinky’s Park, or possibly snuggled up with a Kurt Vonnegut novel.
Originally from Michigan (GO BLUE!), Rybo moved to Bethel last July. He intends on staying in Bethel as long as the folks here will keep him.
