The Tundra Women’s Coalition joined communities across the state in anti-violence marches. TWC held a rally in Bethel on Thursday, marching from the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center to their offices across town.

The Tundra Women’s Coalition held their annual Yukegtaaq Celebration honoring two Yukon Kuskokwim Delta community members. Yukegtaaq means “genuine person.”

This year they honored Mike Williams Sr. of Akiak and Ina Nicholai from Atmautluak for their work in practicing, advocating, and preserving traditional subsistence activities in the Y-K Delta.

People will gather at TWC Thursday, March 27th at noon for a Choose Respect March.

Thursday, communities across Alaska are hosting marches and rallies as part of Governor Sean Parnell’s Choose Respect initiative, including in Bethel. Bethel’s event will take place at noon, Thursday at Tundra Women’s Coalition, or TWC, located on 6th Avenue. Susan Taylor with TWC, says she’s hoping for a large group. Read more →
