Toksook Bay latest challenger to Kasigluk dominance in Showdown

by Shane Iverson on October 11, 2013

Fans from Toksook Bay have made just two pledges but they were both generous enough to launch the coastal community into second place in KYUK’s Village Showdown. The village momentarily grabbed first place until basketball fans in Kasigluk pledged to regain the lead, a lead they have stubbornly held for much of KYUK’s friendly competition. KYUK will reward the winning village of the Showdown with a broadcast of their high school basketball game.

Each pledge is having a major impact on a village’s standing at this point in the competition.

Village Showdown Leaderboard:

1 KASIGLUK $285
2 TOKSOOK BAY $240
3 ANIAK $175
4 ATMAUTLUAK $130
5 NUNAPITCHUK $125
6 AKIACHAK $120
6 MT. VILLAGE $120
8 KWETHLUK $75
9 AKIAK $70
10 KWIGILLINGOK $50
11 TULUKSAK $40
11 TUNTUTULIAK $40
12 QUINHAGAK $25

The rules of the KYUK Village Showdown are pretty simple. The village that pledges the most support by the end of the day on Tuesday, October the 15th, wins. That village’s high school basketball team can decide when and where they want KYUK to provide the coverage. It could be a home tournament or even an away tournament so fans back home can catch the action. The game must be in the Y/K Delta. In the event of a tie the number of individuals that pledged from each village will break the tie, with the highest winning.

Anyone who pledges is also entered into KYUK’s grand prize and weekly drawings. Plus they’ll receive KYUK’s incentive gifts depending on the level they contribute.
