A group of Napaskiak residents who came to Bethel by boat were met by drug enforcement troopers while they were in town. Officers with the Western Alaska Alcohol Narcotics Team were tipped off that the party was in Bethel to purchase alcohol.

Officers met them at the shore and found one bottle of hard liquor in their possession. They seized a backpack, got a search warrant for it, and found seven more bottles of alcohol inside. Troopers say they have identified suspects are charges will be forthcoming. The incident happened October 13.

On October 16, WAANT officers discovered marijuana being mailed to Tununak. They say they were conducting a postal sort in Bethel when they identified a suspicious parcel addressed to a resident in the village. They found 47 grams or what is about 1.6 ounces of pot in the package. They say they have identified a suspect.

No names have been released in these cases because charges are still pending.
