Bigfoot 1If you have a big foot story, this is your chance to tell it. Animal Planet’s ‘Finding Bigfoot’ television series is coming to Bethel. They’re planning a ‘town hall’ meeting on Tuesday at the Cultural Center. Natalie Hewson is a producer for the show. She says the purpose of the meeting is to talk with people about sightings.

“We are a program that airs on Animal Planet – four researchers that go around the world looking for bigfoot and talking with to people who have seen bigfoot. The show has been to many of the states in the lower 48. And we’ve also done some international locations such as China, Indonesia, Australia, Nepal.”

Hewson says the show has shot in Southern Alaska before but this is their first time in the Y-K Delta where they’ve heard that there have been many sightings of bigfoot, or as locals sometimes call him, Hairyman or Miluquyuliq.

“We are basically coming into the area because we have heard of many sightings that are here and we decided to come here and follow up on that and see if there’s anything actually out here. So our show will talk with a lot of the Natives about the lore out here and you know most of the siting are by Natives.”

The ‘town hall’ meeting is scheduled for 6pm Tuesday at the Cultural Center.
