Beverly Hoffman and Randy Hanson, both of Bethel, have been recognized recently for their accomplishments. Bev Hoffman of Bethel has received the Luminary Community Spirit Award from the Healthy Alaska Native’s Foundation. She was awarded March 23rd at the foundation’s annual Raven’s Ball in Anchorage. She also received a legislative citation.

The foundation says Hoffman was chosen for her dedication in improving the community of Bethel and inspiring people of the Y-K Delta through her countless volunteer efforts.

She is a founding member of the Y-K Delta Lifesavers, working for more than 20 years to acquire Bethel’s first community swimming pool.

Hanson has made the school’s Winter Academic All-Big Ten list for having a 3.59 grade point average as well as wrestling for the school nationally. The honor requires student athletes to be letter-winners in at least their second academic year at college and carry a career grade point average of at least a 3.0
