It was Christmas Eve when 21-year-old Joe Charlie of Newtok and 22-year-old Bennett Joseph of Nunapitchuk were reported missing. They had left the village of Newtok on December 23rd, on two separate snow machines headed for Nunapitchuk. The trip usually takes about 6 hours.
