The Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, or WAANT, intercepted 19 bottles of whiskey that would have been allegedly bootlegged on the streets. WAANT says that on Friday, August 31st, at around 4 p-m, at Brown Slough, they searched the boat of an Akiak resident and found 12-bottles of R & R whiskey in various boxes. WAANT says that immediately afterward, they contacted a Bethel resident who was identified as the person allegedly providing the alcohol. The Bethel residents’ vehicle was searched and an additional 7-bottles of whiskey was confiscated. Bethel WAANT says their investigation is on going, and that charges are anticipated to be brought against the two suspects.
