The Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team in Anchorage have intercepted a large amount of alcohol intended for Western Alaska.

WAANT along with the U-S Postal Service in Anchorage, say they stopped two packages destined for the Yukon village of Marshall on Friday, June 28th.

The packages were said to be addressed to a twenty-seven (27) year old male from Marshall. He gave consent to open the packages, which contained thirty-six (36) bottles of vodka. If the bottles were sold in Marshall, WAANT says they would have been worth $7-thousand-two-hundred ($7,200) dollars.

The 27-year old admitted to mailing the alcohol to himself. WAANT says their investigation is continuing and that felony charges will be forwarded to the Office of Special Prosecutions.

Marshall is a local option community that voted to ban the sale, importation, and possession of alcohol.
