The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta subsistence regional advisory council is meeting Wednesday and Thursday in Bethel. They are hearing an update on Rural Determination Process Review process.

The committee will consider three special action requests. One comes from the Native Village of Kwinhagak asking for a bull moose hunt on federal land in the portion of Unit 18 from the Kanektok River and Goodnews River drainages and south. This would be aligned with the state hunt in Unit 18.

They will also look at the Kuskokwim River working group’s special action request to allow dipnets during periods of king salmon closures and to restrict driftnet length to 25 fathoms.

Another big topic will be the federal Subsistence board’s draft of Tribal Consultation Implementation Guidelines and their as well as a policy for consulting with native corporations.

The meeting will be at the Cultural Center from 9 to 5 on March 5th and 6th.
