Y-K subsistence advisory council seeks members

by Angela Denning-Barnes on November 1, 2011

The Federal Subsistence Board is accepting applications to fill seats on the 10 subsistence regional advisory councils, including the one in the Y-K Delta. The Yukon-Kuskowim Delta Subsistence Regional Advisory Council will have 4 seats open in 2012.

Appointments are for one to three year terms.

The councils meet at least twice a year and provide advice to the Federal Subsistence Board on subsistence management issues.

Y-K Regional Advisory Council coordinator, Alex Nick, says the application process is rather long because the applicant’s information must go through Washington D.C. He encourages people to apply knowing that it may be later in the year before they are official accepted.

The application form and information about the application process is available on the Federal Subsistence Management Program’s website or you can contact Alex Nick in Bethel at 543-1037 for more information.

The deadline to apply is February 18, 2012.
