Bethel City Council Meeting Wrap-Up: May 23

All City Council members were in attendance at the regularly scheduled May 23 meeting.

 

Unfinished Business

 

(A) Public Hearing of Ordinance 17-25 [on] Authorizing The Disposal Of Property Pursuant To BMC 4.08.030(B) Lease Agreement Between The City Of Bethel And Alaska Department Of Environmental Conservation - ADEC.

  • The motion carried unanimously. City Manager Pete Williams introduced the ordinance. Page 45 of meeting packet.

(B)  Public Hearing of Budget Ordinance 16-17(m) [on] Amending the Adopted Annual FY 2017 Budget- Classification Study.

  • The motion carried, with one dissenting vote from Council member Norman Ayagalria. City Manager Pete Williams introduced the ordinance. Page 50 of meeting packet.

(C)   Employment Contract Negotiation/Renewal [for the] City Attorney.

  • This contract will be held for discussion until the next City Council meeting on June 13. Bethel Mayor Rick Robb introduced the contract. Page 52 of meeting packet.

 
 

New Business

 

(A)   Resolution 17-10: Authorizing Interim Bank Financing For The Sewage Lagoon Rehabilitation And Sewage Lagoon Jetty Repair Projects.

  • The resolution was passed, with all Council members in favor. City Manager Pete Williams introduced the resolution. Page 61 of meeting packet.

(B)   Introduction of Ordinance 17-26: Amending Bethel Municipal Code Chapter 4 – Revenue And Finance, Section .04 Budget And Audit.

  • A motion to introduce the ordinance was adopted, with a unanimous vote.  Vice Mayor and Council Member Fred Watson introduced the ordinance. Page 62 of meeting packet.

(C)   Introduction of Ordinance 17-27: Amending Bethel Municipal Code 9.36, Nuisance Abatement, Penalties And Remedies.  

  • A motion to introduce the ordinance was adopted, with a unanimous vote. Bethel Mayor Rick Robb introduced the ordinance. Page 63 of meeting packet.

(D)  Action Memorandum [AM] 17-36 “Directing Administration To Pursue Development Of One Or More Roads Through Or Around The Donut Hole To Facilitate The Movement Of Goods And People in Bethel.

  • The Action Memorandum was passed unanimously. City Manager Pete Williams introduced the AM. Page 65 of meeting packet.
