Bethel Gets New Investigator

Bethel Police Department

Bethel Police Officer Eric Pavil has been promoted to Detective after serving on the force for almost two years. His new title is Investigations Corporal. KYUK spoke with him in May about how he balances his role as a community member with his duties as a policeman.

“Born and raised here in Bethel, so I know a lot of people. I grew up here, so I know familiar faces. When I first started I thought it was going to be an issue, being from here. I mean, I have a road named after my grandpa. But I haven’t had any issues. I has it’s perks, it has it’s downsides. People think they know me and they’re just going to be able to walk all over me and stuff, and some people don't like that because I don’t accept it. I haven’t had an issue, not once with family or friends or anything of that nature since I’ve been a police officer. I love this job. I’ve done a lot of different construction, I’m a certified automotive mechanic, I just love this job.”

Officer Pavil has a one-year-old son, and is currently on leave.

The police department chose not to comment.
