There’s no snow on the ground, or in the forecast, and temperatures are barely below freezing. Nonetheless, the Kuskokwim 300 Race Committee has announced its first local sled dog race of the season. The race is more than a month away on December 17, so there’s still time for a white winter to set in. Or at least some ice. The race will be a 30-mile trail open to all local mushers and hold a $20,000 purse. The race committee will release more specifics next month.
